Water Quality Related Organizations, Plans & Programs
Are you interested in being a part of a team that that helps make decisions regarding the use and protection of the watershed that feeds the source of our drinking water? Organizations
- Banks of the Wabash, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving, enhancing and promoting the significant historical and natural resources of the Wabash River Corridor. Banks of the Wabash, Inc. works to improve the quality of life for residents and enhance the visitor experiences for guests from outside the corridor. They cover 8 counties along the Wabash River

- Wildcat Creek Foundation is a non-profit group, based in Lafayette, promoting responsible recreation and working to preserve the natural character of Wildcat Creek.

Plans
- Lauramie Creek Watershed Mangement Plan - developed in 2005 and implementation of the plan is currently underway.
Programs
- Planning with Power - a statewide educational program that links land use planning with watershed planning at the local level. The project is designed to empower communities to prevent and solve natural resource problems resulting from changing land use in growing watersheds and to empower local officials to incorporate watershed protection measures into comprehensive land use plans
- Wellhead Protection Program (IDEM) - a strategy to protect ground water drinking supplies from pollution. The Safe Drinking Water Act and the Indiana Wellhead Protection Rule (327 IAC 8.4-1) mandates a wellhead program for all Community Public Water Systems.
